Officials with a major flood protection board in south Louisiana have called a news conference where they are expected to go into detail about a planned lawsuit against oil, gas and pipeline companies.

Wednesday morning's event by officials of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East will deal with the oil and gas industry's responsibility in the fight against coastal erosion.
The authority said in a news release that Louisiana has lost hundreds of thousands of acres of protective coastal land because of drilling and dredging for canals and pipelines.
