Halloween night is the time for goblins and bats,?
Halloween spirits, ghosts and cats,
Weird-happenings and witches brew,
A yummy dish I?wish to share with you?
Spook-Tacular Pumpkin Pesto!
While shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond I came across the cutest Halloween pasta ever and long behold when I checked the food label it was whole grain with 2 grams of fiber and 7 g protein.
Now all I needed was to find the perfect recipe to accompany this yummy and scary pasta! On the Whole Foods web page I came across their recipe for Pumpkin Seed Pesto. ?A perfect seasonal and spooky dish to bring to my first Halloween Party in Salem Massachusetts?the Halloween capitol of the world. This recipe is the prefect way to combine fall flavors and bring a healthy dish to a candy filled party. I made some minor adjustments to the original?Whole Foods??recipe?to make the pesto a little more ?wet? so it could be spread over pasta.
Spook-Tacular Pumpkin Pesto
Ingredients: 2 cups pumpkin seeds (roasted & salted); 8 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil; 1/2 cup water; 5 Tbsp fresh lemon juice; 3 cloves of garlic; 2 cups roughly chopped fresh cilantro, 2 lbs of whole grain pasta.
Step 1: Combine pumpkin seeds, garlic, lemon juice, half of the olive oil and cilantro in a food processor. Pulse until mixture forms a coarse paste.
?Step 2: Add water and the rest of the olive oil to the coarse paste, while the food processor is on high. The paste should transform into a thick sauce.?
Step 3: Place pesto in bowl and chill until ready to use.?
Step 4:?Prepare whole wheat pasta and strain.?
Step 5:?Combine pesto with warm pasta.?
Step 6: Garnish and enjoy the Spook-Tacular Pumpkin Pesto!?
My Challenge for you this Halloween season is look beyond the candy and find other fun season foods to use to celebrate with your friends and family! Have a Spook-Tacular Halloween!?

Tweetbot for Mac is here! After a public alpha followed by a public beta, Tweetbot has officially been released in the Mac App Store. Everything you love about Tweetbot for iPhone and iPad including the familiar interface, gestures, and sounds, are now brought to the Mac and the experience is exactly what you'd expect -- wonderful.

The look and feel of Tweetbot for Mac is similar to the iPhone and iPad version of Tweetbot, yet tweeked to be more a appropriate for the Mac. The left hand side has a column of tabs that take to your timeline, mentions, messages, favorites, retweets, mute filters, and more. You can change the size of the window to fit you needs -- from short and skinny to wide and tall. Tweetbot for Mac also lets you open different tabs and views in new columns and windows, including the timelines of multiple accounts, so that you have have many screens available simultaneously, as shown in the screenshot above.

Tweetbot for Mac supports shortcuts and gestures to make the desktop Twitter experience quick, easy, and natural. For example cmd+n will create a new tweet, cmd+r will reply to the selected tweet, a swipe to the right will open conversation view, and swipe to the left will open the tweet detail view. And instead of Tweetbot for iOS' trademark action drawer, if you hover over a tweet, icons that let you reply, retweet, mark as favorite, share, and more overlay on top of it.
When creating a new tweet or replying to an existing tweet, a little window will popup that looks like a speech bubble coming from the new tweet button or the tweet you're replying to. It will move around, staying relative to the main Tweetbot window, unless and until you tear it off an reposition is somewhere else. When replying to a tweet, the popup will also display the conversation associated with that tweet underneath the text entry field. This is a great reference and helps you keep track of the conversation at hand.

There are many adjustments and tweaks that can be made in Tweetbot for Mac's preferences including sounds, font size, display name, date format, quote format, and the option to pin the timeline to the top so that you don't have to scroll to see new tweets -- they just appear as they come in. Tweetbot for Mac also supports multiple accounts and lets you choose URL shortening, image upload, video upload, read-later, and sync (including iCloud) services individually for each one. You can also select if you want notifications for mentions, retweets, favorites, and follows.
Now the price. Tweetbot for Mac is $19.99, which is substantially more than the iPhone or iPad version. Unfortunately, during the Tweetbot for Mac alpha period, Twitter changed their Rules of the Road to greatly restrict the amount of user tokens third party apps could use. That means Tweetbot for Mac will only ever be able to activate a limited number user, which means a limited number of customers. If you have a limited resource and a limited market, prices go up. You can't spread development and support costs, and profit margins out over a huge quantity of users, so each user pays more. Tapbots is pricing according to the market conditions Twitter has created, and they're probably not the last Twitter app maker that's going to have to do that.
Thanks Twitter.
Tweetbot for Mac is the best Twitter app currently available for the Mac. If you're a big fan of Tweetbot for iPhone and iPad and also a Mac user, what are you waiting for? Download Tweetbot for Mac!

NEW YORK (AP) ? A Bangladeshi man snared in an FBI terror sting considered targeting a high-ranking government official and the New York Stock Exchange before authorities say he raised the bar by picking one New York City's most fortified sites: The Federal Reserve.
In a September meeting with an undercover agent posing as a fellow jihadist, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis explained he chose the Federal reserve as his car bomb target "for operational reasons," according to a criminal complaint. Nafis also indicated he knew that choice would "cause a large number of civilian casualties, including women and children," the complaint said.
The bomb was phony, but authorities alleged that Nafis' admiration of Osama bin Laden and aspirations for martyrdom were not.
FBI agents grabbed the 21-year-old Nafis ? armed with a cellphone he believed was rigged as a detonator ? after he made several attempts to blow up a fake 1,000-pound the bomb inside a vehicle parked next to the Federal Reserve Wednesday in lower Manhattan, the complaint said.
The bank in New York, located at 33 Liberty St., is one of 12 branches around the country that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, make up the Federal Reserve System that serves as the central bank of the United States. It sets interest rates.
Dozens of governments and central banks store a portion of their gold reserves in high-security vaults deep beneath the building. In recent years, it held 216 million troy ounces of gold, or more than a fifth of all global monetary gold reserves, making it a bigger bullion depository than Fort Knox.
As a result, the Federal Reserve is one of the most fortified buildings in the city, smack in the middle of a massive security effort headed by the New York Police Department, where a network of thousands of private and police cameras watch for suspicious activity.
Authorities emphasized that the plot never posed an actual risk. There was no allegation that Nafis actually received training or direction from a real terrorist group.
However, they claimed the case demonstrated the value of using sting operations to neutralize young extremists eager to harm Americans.
"Attempting to destroy a landmark building and kill or maim untold numbers of innocent bystanders is about as serious as the imagination can conjure," said Mary Galligan, acting head of the FBI's New York office. "The defendant faces appropriately severe consequences."
Prosecutors say Nafis traveled to the U.S. on a student visa in January to carry out an attack. In July, he contacted a confidential informant, telling him he wanted to form a terror cell and that he admired "Sheikh 'O'" ? a reference to bin Laden, the criminal complaint said. Nafis was living in Queens at the time.
The defendant later sought assurances from an undercover agent posing as an al-Qaida contact that the terrorist group would support the operation.
"The thing that I want to ... ask you about is that, the thing I'm doing, it's under al-Qaida?" he was recorded saying during a meeting in bugged hotel room in Queens, according to the complaint.
In a September meeting in the same hotel room, Nafis "confirmed he was ready to kill himself during the course of the attack, but indicated he wanted to return to Bangladesh to see his family one last time to set his affairs in order," the complaint said.
Before trying to carry out the alleged plot, Nafis went to a warehouse to help assemble the bomb using inert material, according to a criminal complaint. He told the undercover agent he was influenced by radical U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
He also asked an undercover agent to videotape him saying, "We will not stop until we attain victory or martyrdom," the complaint said.
Nafis appeared in federal court in Brooklyn on Wednesday to face charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to al-Qaida. Wearing a brown T-shirt and black jeans, he was ordered held without bail and did not enter a plea. His defense attorney had no comment outside court.
The federal case was the latest where a terrorism plot against the city turned out to be a sting operation.
Four men were convicted in 2009 in a plot to bomb synagogues and shoot down military planes with missiles ? a case that began after an FBI informant was assigned to infiltrate a mosque in Newburgh, about 70 miles north of New York City. The federal judge hearing the case said she was not proud of the government's role in nurturing the plot.
In 2004, a Pakistani immigrant was arrested and convicted for a scheme to blow up the subway station at Herald Square in midtown Manhattan. His lawyers argued that their client had been set up by a police informant who showed him pictures of Iraq abuse to get him involved in an attack against civilians.

Hi all,
Hope everyone is well?
Plenty of activity across the social web this week?
Now in its 15th year, the 2013 Technology and Retailer Spending Outlook Benchmarking Study surveys the technology spending habits, industry trends and future outlook from a sample of cross-industry, cross-vertical retail executives.
Even with the social media phenomenon continuing to develop at breakneck speed, companies are still putting most of their marketing spend into traditional technologies such as SEO enhancements, but video is making large inroads into the budgets of leading marketing departments. And focusing on social media itself, respondents state that they use social media primarily as a means of engagement, followed by PR, customer services and lastly sales.
Social media is all about interacting with your business? customers. In their latest ad Mercedes-Benz have taken this literally and give viewers of their ad the chance to influence its outcome. The #YOUDRIVE campaign is a three-part story where viewers decide what decisions the characters make. The voting for the decisions was made via Twitter. And of course watchers can also be in with a chance to win a new A Class by spotting a data embedded in the videos.
Over on the Simply Zesty blog you can see a group of the best in social media campaign that have aired over recent weeks. Mercedes-Benz of course features, but so does work from a number of agencies that are using the leading social media platforms as a way for their brands to interact with consumers. Orange for instance used voiceovers to enhance the tweets of their users who gave details of their travel plans. Social media now delivers the link that ad developers want to make between brand owners and their products or services.
Is this the world?s most interactive print ad?
Print publications have been experimenting with various types of media, as the tablet PC has gained in popularity. The latest issue of Sport Illustrated features the latest ad from Lexus. Readers who have an iPad can see the ad in its full glory by placing their tablet behind the page. Lexus call the technology ?CinePrint? and could be the future of more immersive print ads in the future. Entertainment Weekly has also recently included a small mobile phone embedded in an ad page that displayed live tweets about the advertiser.
Search delivers lion?s share of ad revenue
As we reported above, brand owners understand the impact that social media is having, but are still putting most of their money into SEO. This seems to be working, as the latest figures from the IAB show that search still accounts for nearly half of all the ad revenue from online commerce. Search revenues in the first half of the year totalled $8.1 billion, up 19 percent from nearly $6.8 billion.
?This report establishes that marketers increasingly embrace mobile and digital video, as well as the entire panoply of interactive platforms, to reach consumers in innovative and creative ways,? said Randall Rothenberg, President and CEO, IAB. ?These half-year figures come on the heels of a study from Harvard Business School researchers that points to the ad-supported internet ecosystem as a critical driver of the U.S. economy. Clearly, the digital marketing industry is on a positive trajectory that will propel the entire American business landscape forward.?
UK digital ad spend grows 12.6% to ?2.6 billion in first half of 2012
Despite the difficult UK economy, advertising on the internet and mobile phones increased, like-for-like, by 12.6% to a record six-month high of ?2.59 billion in the first half of 2012? up by over ?294 million from ?2.30 billion in the first half of 2011, according to the latest Internet Advertising Bureau UK (IAB) advertising expenditure report, conducted by PwC.
Tim Elkington, Director of Research & Strategy at the Internet Advertising Bureau, says: ?Almost 60% of people in the UK have a smart phone, average UK household broadband speed is now 9MB and social media accounts for one fifth of all Internet time. As digital technology and services evolve to make consumers? lives easier, more connected and more fun, it?s no surprise that advertisers are coming to the digital party with bigger budgets, despite the challenging economic times elsewhere.
?However, there?s still plenty of room for growth. Take mobile; 60% of the UK?s 100 biggest advertisers still don?t have a mobile-optimised website yet consumers spend almost 70% longer on sites which are. If all advertisers get wise to this, we?re likely to see significant mobile growth for some time yet.?
Until next time?.

?I just got off the phone with Andrea Howard, president of?Social Media Maxima?after having reached out to her on behalf of Reputation.com. While I was boning up on what her agency did, I fell in love! Long story short (and this is my analogy) is that Social Media Maxima offers social media hair extensions, hair pieces, and wigs. What I mean to say is that Andrea Howard is all about making your already gorgeous head of hair even fuller and more luxuriant, building the sort of coverage and body that you?ve always wanted and maybe never have had.
Social Media Maxima doesn?t take over all of your?social media content?creation ? unless you really want them to.
What they do do is post relevant, industry-specific content 3 times per week. The content is provided by the client from agreed-upon sources culled by their research experts.
So, what they do, at the very least, is provide relevant, generous, content. Yes, only thrice-a-week, but I see so many?Twitter?and?Facebook?platforms that have been forgotten for weeks. While 3 isn?t very many, $150/month isn?t that much either ? but three times/week of good, generous, content, is just enough to act as those hair extensions that even out the bald spots of your social media posting and the limited resources you might have on hand ? especially when it comes to vacations or unforeseen oversights.
I mean, for only $275/month (not week), you can have a fully-outsourced social media package ? and why not?
Even if you, yourself, and your team are super-excited to keep up-to-date with posting, tweeting, blogging, and all of that, what harm would a little more do? As they say in theEpiscopal Church, ?many hands make light work.?
To misappropriate the?Anne-Marie Slaughter?controversial article in The Atlantic,?Why Women Still Can?t Have It All, regular companies that do most of their work and business IRL (in real life) and who have no innate desire to bog down their limited resources with a full-time director of social media or online community manager ? they just want a little more juice.
And even if you?re the corner pizza joint or the small place that sells second-hand baby stuff, you cannot ignore your social media footprint ? you really still need to control and update yourPinterest, Twitter, Facebook, and?Google+?profiles. Why?
Well, because social media has zero-barrier-to-entry and because so many people actually do use?Google?and social sharing and online chatter to find, discover, retweet, and refer just about everything in their lives, one cannot ignore or avoid social media, social media engagement, social media marketing, and also social media content-creation.
However, if you?re not passionate about any of this stuff ? and if you?re not passionate about all of it, you really need to make certain that you?re not relegated to have to do all of this ? from Pinterest to Instagram, from your Facebook Profile to your Facebook Pages, from Twitter to Google+ ? because you?ll only end up wanting to take out your eyes, smash your various and sundry smart devices, and you?ll surely end up petering out before long, leaving your entire online Kingdom to the ravages of time, the shifting sands, and tumbling tumbleweeds ? you?ll end up with a useless ghost town that will surely portray your company, your brand, your storefront, and your practice as zombiefied.
I know, I know: you wonder how a company like Andreas? ever gets your company pitch-perfect? Get over yourself! I guarantee that a) you?re not that special b) you?re not that unique c) social media?s not a ghost-written autobiography (which everyone does, anyway) d) and, to be honest, a professional writer can do a much better job of emulating your best self than you can do representing your own authentic self. Yes, I said it: a fake communications pro can always be you better than you can ever imagine yourself to be, more consistently, more professionally, and without fail, than you can. That?s why you bloody well hire a PR person and a copywriter and a content guy and a graphic designer and all that other stuff.
And yet, too many of us persist on thinking that we can somehow nail our image, perfectly, forever, on social media, by ourselves.
I didn?t know that Andrea Howard and Social Media Maxima even?existed?until this afternoon, and I have never met her ? and I am not telling her about this; that said, I am impressed with what she?s doing ? and especially her price-point and her willingness to not need to take over social media from her clients outright but rather to create a hybrid, allowing her clients to contribute as much content as often as they like, themselves, while still knowing that the entire social media strategy is not dependent only on when the Muses visit but every single week, every single year.
If you?ll indulge me, it?s sort of like landscaping: I love gardening but I don?t like maintaining, feeding, and trimming lawns and hedges. If I am made to do lawn care and hedge-trimming all my myself, I will end up hating it all and will probably abandon gardening as well ? and I might move into an apartment since I hate mowing so much; however, if I hire a landscaping service, it doesn?t mean I don?t have a green thumb, it just means I am focusing on doing only the things I love and relinquishing the things I hate to people who are either better at them or more prepared to get them done on your behalf, for whatever reason. In this case, for pay.
So, get over yourself. Take a hybrid approach. Keep the things you like doing on social media, and outsource the rest, be it to Andrea Howard?s Social Media Maxima or someone else. You will surely not lose your soul if you outsource the things that drive you nuts and you hate to someone who does it better than you do and for a living.?

Developer Pret Dyer, saying it is an opportunity for Sussex County to achieve its affordable housing quota, also stated he will donate 26 acres to the Nature Conservancy to serve as a buffer from other properties. LUXEMBOURG (AP) ? The European Union, concerned by what it called Iran's refusal to come clean on its nuclear program, imposed a new range of sanctions Monday intended to hit the country's treasury and increase pressure on its Islamic regime.
A leading European satellite provider, meanwhile, took 19 Iranian television and radio broadcasters off the air Monday ? a cutoff due to earlier sanctions. The move prompted accusations of censorship and threats to sue from Iranian state television.
Foreign ministers from the 27 EU member countries, meeting in Luxembourg, said Iran was "acting in flagrant violation of its international obligations" and was still refusing to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency to address international concerns.
Many countries fear that Iran is working to develop nuclear weapons but Iranian officials say the country's nuclear program is intended solely for peaceful purposes.
A statement by the EU foreign ministers said they had approved "additional restrictive measures in the financial, trade, energy and transport sectors" against Iran as well as imposing asset freezes and trade restrictions on more companies, notably those "active in the oil and gas industry."
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said the ministers had banned the import of Iranian natural gas into EU nations.
The EU ministers also agreed to prohibit all transactions between EU and Iranian banks unless they were authorized in advance for humanitarian reasons and tightened restrictions on the Central Bank of Iran, according to the statement said.
They imposed more export restrictions "notably for graphite, metals, software for industrial purposes, as well as measures related to the shipbuilding industry."
Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the Iranian Resistance ? a group that seeks the Iran's regime's ouster ? welcomed the decision to expand sanctions as "an essential step to preclude this regime from acquiring nuclear weapons." She asked the EU to sever all economic and commercial relations with the religious fascism ruling Iran.
An affiliated group, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, said it had learned from people inside the country that the Iranian government was using banks' money-changing operations as well as divisions of the National Iranian Oil Company to get around the sanctions against oil exports.
On the broadcasting cutoff, people in Iran still have access to most of the channels, which are operated by the Iranian state broadcaster Irib, but they're no longer broadcast in Europe and elsewhere.
Satellite provider Eutelsat agreed with media services company Arqiva to block Irib's nine TV channels and 10 radio stations as of Monday morning because of "reinforced EU council sanctions," Eutelsat spokeswoman Vanessa O'Connor said. Irib's access to Eutelsat was via a contract with Arqiva.
Irib's chief was among those targeted in a round of EU sanctions against Iran adopted in March, based on what European officials said were human rights violations in its programming.
Eutelsat would not comment on the financial consequences of the cutoff.
Iran's state-run Press TV said Irib could take legal action against Eutelsat over the cutoff "to compensate for any material and spiritual damages."
Press TV says it was among the channels cut by the Eutelsat decision. Others include Farsi-language channels for Iranian expatriates and Arabic-language offerings, including the news channel Al-Alam.
In a statement, Press TV said the move "shows that the European Union does not respect freedom of speech and ... is a step to mute all alternative news outlets representing the voice of the voiceless."
On his way into Monday's meeting, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said new sanctions would be "a sign of our resolve in the European Union that we will step up the pressure."
Hague said such pressure would continue to mount "over the coming months unless negotiations succeed. We remain open of course to success of negotiations."
